Questions people ask
What am I actually buying?
A print of one day. You choose a date and a place; we draw the wind, the weather or the Earth over that place on that date from the satellite and weather record for that day, and print it with the name, town and date on it.
Which days can I choose?
Any day from 1 January 1948 to today. The record goes back that far, so most birthdays, weddings and anniversaries are covered.
Can I choose a place outside the United States?
Yes — the place on the print can be anywhere in the world. Delivery is to US addresses only for now, so a print of Paris or Auckland has to be posted to a US address.
Is the preview what I get?
Yes. The preview on the product page is drawn from the record for the exact date and place you entered. The print is that same drawing at full resolution, so it stays sharp at 24 × 32 inches.
How accurate is it?
The shapes come from the recorded data for your day — the wind, the pressure, the cloud, the snow and the sea ice as they were. What we make from it is our artistic impression of that imaging and weather data, made to hang on a wall. It is art, not a scientific instrument.
What if I spell a name wrong, or pick the wrong date?
We show you exactly what will print and ask you to confirm it before the order goes through, because we print names as typed and cannot know if a letter is wrong. If something still slips past, email us — if the mistake is ours we reprint it free, and if it was a typo we will reprint it at our cost.
How long does it take to arrive?
Your print is drawn and checked, then printed and posted. Making it takes 2 to 3 business days and delivery another 3 to 5, so most orders arrive within 5 to 8 business days. Shipping in the US is free.
What sizes and finishes are there?
Posters in 12 × 16, 18 × 24 and 24 × 32 inches, stretched canvas in the same sizes, and framed prints in 12 × 16 and 18 × 24. Everything is printed in the USA on heavy matte stock.
Can I have all three prints of the same day?
Yes — that is The Complete Day: the wind, the weather and the Earth for one date, about 25% less than buying the three separately.
Can I send it straight to someone as a gift?
Yes. Enter their address at checkout. Nothing in the parcel shows the price you paid, and posters arrive rolled in a heavy tube ready to hang or frame.
